RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS LIL' BRUDDER....

  • FEELING DANGEROUSLY: SAD
  • WHAT WILL WE DO TODAY? SAY GOOD BYE TO OUR SWEET EMMET
  • WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE ? TOO DARK TO TELL
  • MUNCHING OR SIPPING? NOTHING TOO SAD TO EAT...
 IT'S A VERY SAD DAY IN THE DANGER ZONE. LAST NIGHT WHEN EMMET AKA LIL' BRUDDER CAME IN THE HOUSE I NOTICED THAT THE AREA BEHIND HIS RIGHT REAR LEG WAS REALLY SWELLED. TRYING TO STAY POSITIVE I HOPED IT WAS ONE OF THOSE COCKER SPANIEL THINGS THAT USUALLY GET TAKEN CARE OF WHEN GROOMED. KNOWING HE WAS JUST GROOMED LAST WEEK DEEP DOWN I SUSPECTED THE WORST HAVING DONE THIS TWICE ALREADY IN THE PAST 3 1/2 YEARS I KNEW IT WAS NOT GOING TO BE GOOD NEWS. THIS MORNING I TOOK EMMET OUR NEARLY 12 YEAR OLD COCKER SPANIEL TO THE VET TO FIND THAT IN ABOUT 48 HOURS THE TUMOR HAD GROWN TO THE SIZE OF A TENNIS BALL AND WAS ATTACHED TO HIS MUSCLES AND POSSIBLY HIS LEG BONE OR OTHER VITAL ORGANS. THE OPTIONS WOULD HAVE PROLONGED HIS LIFE BUT THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN FOR ME. KNOWING THAT THE CANCER WAS VERY AGGRESSIVE I COULD NOT LET HIM SUFFER NEEDLESSLY NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT BROKE MY HEART I HAD TO LET HIM GO. AT 10 AM HE LAID IN MY LAP AND WENT QUIETLY TO SLEEP HEARING MY VOICE TELLING HIM HOW VERY MUCH HE WAS LOVED AND THAT IT WAS TIME FOR HIM TO FIND HIS BROTHER RAYDEN WHO WE LOST WHEN HE WAS A YEAR OLD AND DANGER DOG AND ALL THE OTHERS THAT WOULD BE WAITING FOR HIM. I KNOW I DID WHAT WAS BEST FOR THE OLD MAN AS I CALLED HIM BUT DAMN IT SURE DOES HURT TO LOSE ANOTHER ONE. BUT AS MUCH AS IT HURTS I WOULDN'T CHANGE A MINUTE SPENT WITH ANY OF THEM. RUN WITH THE BIG DOGS EMMET........

I am so sorry to have just read this, how heartbreaking it is to lose one. As hard as it is you did what was best, but you know that. He will alsways be connected to you and you will always be his best mom. Blessings and my heart weeps with you
